Shea McMurtry, Ph.D.

Shea McMurtry is Associate Director & Site Head of Lilly Gateway Labs China, supporting the local biotech ecosystem by accelerating drug discovery and development through early engagement with companies and providing tailored offerings to meet their needs.

Previously Shea led Communications and Engagement for Lilly Gateway Labs, supporting San Francisco, San Diego, and Boston sites. With Shea’s deep understanding of the Gateway model and value to Lilly and the biotech ecosystem, she led Gateway's communication, branding, and programming. She helped build Gateway’s presence in Boston and San Diego, fostering relationships with partners and biotech companies to accelerate science across the ecosystems.

Shea started her career at Lilly through the Visiting Scientist Program in pipeline medical affairs in Oncology at Loxo@Lilly. Prior to Lilly, Shea completed her B.S. in Exercise Physiology at the University of Pittsburgh and Ph.D. in Neurophysiology at Georgia Tech, where she investigated neural plasticity following spinal cord injury.
