Yang Liu, Ph.D.

Yang Liu is Executive Director, Head Lilly Gateway Labs China, overseeing all LGL China initiatives across our Beijing and Shanghai sites, as well as the associated portfolio companies.

With hands-on drug development experience at GSK (US) and Search& Evaluation at Lilly (China), she combines cross-regional business acumen with a deep understanding of global ecosystems and cultural nuances. Beyond that, she has led cross-sector collaborations—partnering with academia, industry leaders, and non-profit organizations to accelerate ecosystem-wide innovation.

Yang received her PhD in Analytical Chemistry from Fudan University and MBA from Penn State University. She started her career in Sourcing at DuPont, Shanghai, followed by taking team leadership role in CMC at GSK after her post-doctoral training at University of Pennsylvania. Upon returning to China, she joined Boehringer Ingelheim in drug development and registration, before joining Lilly.
